Hunters on Wolf Prairie: Meet the Anole lizard!
Green Anoles in the Wolf Prairie.
The green anoles are of native species here in Texas, and we have some that live in our very own Wolf Prairie. They increase the biodiversity of our little area of treasure, and help with the ecosystem through the food chain. When the Green Anole first came to North America 40 million years ago, it was free of competition-claim the evolutionist. They spread out in the southeastern region of the United States, and have been isolated to develop with similar traits, called convergent evolution. Since they adapted to different environments, they evolved into many types of species since- called adaptive radiation. Now there are a wide variety of sizes and shapes of green anoles.
